Technology is developing rapidly around the world and its impact is noticeable in every sector. The trade sector is also not lagging behind this development. In today’s era, people are preferring e-commerce over traditional business, as it provides more opportunities and convenience.

Keeping this importance in mind, a one-day e-commerce training workshop was organized at the Department of Commerce, Islamia University of Bahawalpur. More than fifty Masters and BS Honors students participated in this session. The aim of this training program was to expose the students to modern online business models and help them understand the business possibilities on digital platforms.

Objectives of the workshop

The main objective of this e-commerce training was to make the students aware of:

  • What is e-commerce and how does it work?
  • Modern ways to start an online business.
  • How to reach customers and increase sales through digital tools.

Training Content

The program focused on practical and fundamental topics so that students can easily start an online business:

  • What is e-commerce? – Basic definition of electronic commerce.
  • How to start an e-store? – Steps to create an online store.
  • What to sell? – Choosing profitable products.
  • Online Business Ideas – Creative models for digital business.
  • Shopping Website Development – ​​Fundamentals of building a successful website.
  • Selling on Social Media – Using platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Social Media Marketing – Product Promotion and Customer Engagement Strategies.
  • E-commerce Platforms – Introduction to platforms like Daraz, Amazon and Shopify.

Training Methodology

The workshop included presentations and group discussions so that students could not only gain knowledge but also share their thoughts, challenges and business ideas.

This e-commerce training workshop was a significant effort to prepare students for the demands of the digital economy. The program exposed students to practical aspects of online business ideas, website development, and social media marketing, and highlighted the opportunities in the growing e-commerce industry in Pakistan.
